Continuous provision is the term used by the Early Years Guidance to describe the range of experiences that we regularly provide for the children both indoors and outdoors. These areas are described in the following way:

1. Large construction - At Woodlands Nursery we have table top construction as well as a large carpeted floor area available for construction activities.
   
   
2. Games and puzzles - All our games and puzzles are on shelves at the children's level. The children are encouraged to help themselves to these at any time during the day.
   
   
3. Mark making - We offer a range of mark making activities throughout the day, including a painting easel, a white board, a chalk board. We also offer a 'writing table' in which the children have access to many mark making materials such as pens, pencils and chalks.
   
   
4. Role play - Our role play area is often changed to incorporate our many themes, such as a hospital, a restaurant, a school or travel agents. We have many dressing up clothes and items of play food and cutlery for the children to use.
   
   
5. Book area - A wide selection of information and story books are accessible to the children throughout the day. Books are also on display throughout the room in all of our areas for the children to look through as they are doing related activities.
   
   
6. Sand - There is a large sand tray outside for all the children to access as well as smaller ones in the rooms for the children to enjoy.
   
   
7. Water - Water play is frequently made available for the children to play with - inside and outside.
   
   
8. Painting - The children have access to a painting easel everyday.
   
   
9. Small world - We have a small world play table which we regularly put on the dolls house, trains, cars and garage, puppets or farm and zoo animals. We also use the many other tables around the room to encourage small world play.
   
   
10. Creative workshop - The children have access daily to gluing materials, cutting materials as well as collage and catalogues on our writing table. We also set up regular activities during the day to encourage themed creative activities.
    
    
11. Malleable materials - We offer the children opportunities for malleable play during the day such as dough or clay work. We also encourage the children to participate once a week (The day varies) to participate in a cooking activity.
    
    
12. Investigation and discovery - The children have access daily to a computer with a variety of learning games. We also provide many resources at the children's level to encourage investigation and exploration such as magnets, magnifying glasses and insects. We also do many interactive displays such as our topic table in which the children can add to or investigate during the day.
