Staring nursery at Woodlands nursery

The nursery staff will work in partnership with parents/ carers to settle the child into the nursery environment.

Once a place has been offered at nursery arrangements will be made for a number of settling in sessions. This is to establish a relationship and trust with both the child and parent.

Settling in sessions usually take place a week or two before the child initially starts nursery. But the nursery will be flexible to meet the parent’s needs and timetable.

The first visit - This will be one hour long and offers an opportunity for the parent and child to be introduced to staff. During this visit parents will provide all documentation required by the nursery. The parent will also be asked to provide any necessary items for the child such as comforters and spare clothing.

The second visit - This is usually one and a half hours and the parent is encouraged to leave the child for a short period of time. Parents are welcome to stay on the premises so they are still close by.

The third visit - This is usually two to four hours and the parent will again be encouraged to leave the child during this period.

The nursery will usually operate on three settles for each child but will remain flexible for individual needs. This may include offering a home visit for children who need additional help settling in.

If you have any concerns about settling in your child at Woodlands Nursery then please do not hesitate to speak with the manager.
